April makes a pioneering deal for $16 million in financing for Universal studios

For the film ‘Blue Crush’—an Imagine Entertainment production for Universal Studios—April brought in $16 million in tax incentives for them by being the first to take advantage of Hawaii’s newly passed Act 221.

The deal in turn gave Hawaii the rights to use Universal’s film clips, trailers, press kits, and star interviews for their own tourism marketing—a precedent for a studio cross-promoting the location of its shoot.

April DEVELOPS AND EXPANDS THE FILM & TV INDUSTRY IN HAWAII—WITH PLANS FOR FLORIDA

From relocating of one of the most-watched TV shows to Hawaii (‘Baywatch’) to leading production for all the state’s Miss Universe events, April’s contribution to Hawaii’s entertainment industry led the then-Governor to proclaim June 4th as “Masini Day”.

Using her unique experience in the industry, she formed the American Initiative For Film Industry (AiFi) to now revive film in Florida—for its wealth of benefits for all entities involved.
